Tucked away in a secluded canyon near Crested Butte, the exclusive Taylor River Lodge is the perfect place to get back to nature and sample Colorado’s great outdoors at their very best.

The Atmosphere

Taylor River Lodge is an exciting new project from the team behind Scarp Ridge Lodge in Crested Butte, and while Scarp Ridge Lodge offers one of the great American ski experiences, Taylor River Lodge is the perfect summer getaway.

The lodge is an intimate collection of rustic log cabins and homes that line the canyon and run alongside the tumbling Taylor River. The forested canyon walls that encircle Taylor River Lodge only add to the sense of solitude and escape. While many of the buildings are original and blend perfectly into their surroundings, they have been completely renovated as part of the project with no detail overlooked.

The Experience

Where Taylor River Lodge truly sets itself apart is its extensive in-house adventure program. Parent company, Eleven Experiences, also operates Crested Butte’s premier outfitter and their expert guides are on hand to provide a highly customized experience program.

On the lodge’s doorstep, the Taylor River is an exceptional tailwater fishery, with fast water and selective fish. The Taylor runs into the Gunnison with its long, deep pools perfectly suited to a float trip. Many say Crested Butte was the birthplace of the mountain bike and, whether true or not, the stunning scenery and miles of connecting trail make it perfect for beginners and experts alike. Guests can enjoy a rock climbing lesson on the canyon wall opposite the lodge, while the rest of the family watches from the terrace, cocktail in hand. Hiking, horse riding, and rafting are just some of the other great options.

There is no better place to finish an action packed day than with a long soak in the stunning pool house. The beautiful granite-lined pool sits in its own log building and at the flick of a switch the end wall lifts up to let the outside world in. The lodge also has a spa, as well as a cozy games room.

Your Room

Six standalone log cabins dot the property, as well as two larger family homes. All have pretty views, with many overlooking the river. Interiors are extremely comfortable and tastefully furnished, without loosing the rustic, natural feel of their surroundings.

Eat & Drink

The communal Kokanee Lodge is perched on the banks of the Taylor River and chef-prepared meals are served either in the dining room or outside on the deck.
