Inspiring and cultivating learning for a sustainable future

Shelburne Farms, nestled along the shores of Lake Champlain in Vermont, is a historic estate turned non-profit dedicated to promoting sustainability, environmental stewardship, and education. Established in 1972, this 1,400-acre working farm is a place where travelers can explore rolling pastures, woodlands, and carefully restored barns, and taste its award-winning cheddar cheese, produced on-site and sold to support their mission. The farm’s immersive experiences—from cheese-making workshops to educational school programs—is one of the draws for All Road North’s travelers to visit and be part of a larger commitment to sustainability and a thoughtful approach to living with the earth.

Close to our hearts at All Roads North, the Sequoia Parks Conservancy is the nonprofit partner dedicated to protecting, preserving, and enhancing the natural and cultural resources of Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks. By funding conservation initiatives, facilitating educational programs, and promoting scientific research, the Conservancy plays a vital role in supporting these iconic parks and their towering giant sequoias. Through partnerships, donations, and volunteer opportunities, the Sequoia Parks Conservancy connects people to the awe-inspiring landscapes of the Sierra Nevada, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation for these unique ecosystems and ensuring they thrive for future generations.

Gullah Geechee Cultural Heritage Corridor | South Carolina – Florida
Preserving and promoting the unique cultural heritage of the Gullah Geechee people
A community-led organization, the Gullah Geechee Cultural Heritage Corridor aims to preserve the unique cultural heritage of the Gullah Geechee people along the deeply historic stretch of land between North Carolina and Florida, known as the Lowcountry. Established with a mission to preserve and share the vibrant heritage of the descendants of West and Central Africans who were enslaved and brought to the coastal plantations, the Corridor is supported by nonprofits, local organizations, and community leaders who work to protect historic sites, promote cultural education, and empower local communities. Through storytelling, heritage preservation, and cultural events, the Corridor helps sustain the Gullah Geechee legacy, ensuring it remains a living, thriving part of American history.

Using the power of food to nourish communities in times of crisis and beyond

World Central Kitchen (WCK) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to using the power of food to support communities in crisis and promote resilience in the face of natural and human-made disasters. Led by world-renown Chef José Andrés, WCK launched an extensive response effort in the United States following the impact of Hurricane Helene. In the storm-ravaged areas of North Carolina, WCK quickly mobilized to distribute thousands of hot meals to residents facing food and water shortages due to infrastructure damage. With an emphasis on compassion, dignity, and the transformative power of food, World Central Kitchen stands as a beacon of hope, serving millions across the country when it matters most.
Sage to Saddle | South Dakota
Supporting Indigenous youth to reconnect with their heritage through horses and community
A nonprofit organization empowering young people in South Dakota, primarily on Native American reservations, to reconnect with their heritage by providing two simple tools: horses and community. The goal is to build an indoor riding arena and educational center on the Pine Ridge Reservation, where young people can find a safe environment and nurture the culture of horsemanship that is so strong amongst the Lakota. The need for an indoor space like this is especially acute during South Dakota’s harsh winter months, when outdoor riding is impossible and the problems of a tough home life can be exacerbated.

The Whale Museum | Washington State
Advocating for stewardship of orcas through storytelling and conservation efforts
The Whale Museum, founded in 1979 and located in Friday Harbor, San Juan Island in Washington State is a nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring stewardship of whales and fostering a connection between them and humans. The first museum in the U.S. focused on whales, specifically the orcas native to the Salish Sea, they offers life-size models and exhibits to tell the story of these often misunderstood creatures, while leading crucial conservation efforts to protect whales and their habitat. A visit to their Acoustics Lab, where the vocalizations of individual orcas are identified, is the perfect preface to time on the water with a marine biologist.
