Set amongst idyllic farmland and with Taos Mountain in the background, Casa Gallina is a genuine hidden gem and the perfect hideaway from which to soak up the unique charms of Taos.

Atmosphere

Casa Gallina is less than five minutes from Taos Plaza but its secluded location, surrounded by small holdings and farmland, feels a world away from the relative hustle and bustle. Rooms are in five meticulously restored adobe casitas that surround the central gardens, where you’ll find Casa Gallina’s namesake chickens, as well a bountiful organic vegetable garden.

What is immediately clear from the moment you arrive at Casa Gallina is the infectious enthusiasm for Taos of your host Richard Spera. Staying here is not only a joy in itself but it will let you tap into the true soul of Taos and experience this magical region through the eyes of a local.

Your Room

The casitas at Casa Gallina vary in size from one to three bedrooms but all have been lovingly decorated with colorful artisan-made furnishings, antique rugs and original art from the region. The traditional Viga ceilings, wooden floors, and kiva fireplaces burning the area’s fragrant pinon pine, are all unmistakably New Mexican. Everything, down to crowded bookshelves, reflects a personal, thoughtful touch that instantly makes you feel at home.

Food & Drink

The casitas all have fully stocked kitchens with all the staples, so all you’ll need for a home cooked breakfast is to remember to walk outside to collect a few fresh eggs and harvest some seasonal veggies.
