Glacier National Park, Pack Trip & Luxury Ranch

Discover the wonders of Montana away from the crowds and with expert naturalist guides. From backcountry adventures to luxury camping, this trip will immerse you in the wilds of Big Sky country.

Glacier National Park

Day 1-3

Also known as the “Crown of the Continent” and “Backbone of the World,”  Glacier National Park is a million-acre wilderness straddling the US-Canadian border and is one of America’s most dramatic and beloved national parks.  Your secluded mountain cabin on the edge of the Bob Marshall Wilderness will allow you to unwind away from the crowds of West Glacier after each full day exploring the park.

A guided naturalist hike will give you the lay of the land on your first day in Glacier. We’ll help you choose the best section of the park’s 734 miles of trail for your group, whether you are looking for a strenuous climb or a leisurely stroll.

As you drive along the Going-to-the-Sun Road– a 50-mile civil engineering masterpiece that cuts through the park– you’ll pass the massive serrated peaks of the Rockies, waterfalls cascading with fresh snowmelt, trout-filled brooks and streams and lush ice-carved valleys blanketed with alpine tundra.

You’ll dedicate one day to push off onto the pristine and protected waters of the North or Middle Fork of the Flathead River. With the help of your guide, cast for Westslope Cutthroat, Rainbow Trout and Brook Trout from your drift boat.

Flathead National Forest Pack Trip

Day 4

No trip to Montana would be complete without spending some time in the saddle. This morning, after an introduction to your trusty steed, you’ll ride deep into the forested mountains and lush meadows of the Flathead National Forest with your guide and for an overnight at a secluded backcountry camp. Settle into your cozy wall tents as your guide gets the fire going for your cowboy cookout. We’ll keep the fire going well into the night so you can enjoy hot chocolate and s’mores under the stars.

The Resort at Paws Up

Day 5-9

After a night of roughing it in the backcountry, you’ll be ready to savor the rest of your time in Big Sky Country at The Resort at Paws Up. Part working ranch, part luxury hideaway, this 37,000-acre property boasts natural beauty that rivals any National Park, which you can enjoy without the masses.

For the next three days, you’ll enjoy plenty of unforgettable ranch activities, including trail and cattle rides, hiking, ATV drives and 16 stations of sporting clay shooting. Try whitewater rafting or fly fishing on the 10 miles stretch of the Blackfoot River, which Lewis and Clark navigated on their legendary exploration of the American West. Additional fun, programmed activities are available to the youngest guests. Be on the lookout while exploring the ranch, as you’ll encounter resident elk, stunning Black Angus cows, as well as other wildlife roaming the rolling pastures.

In between adventures, you’ll return to gourmet meals prepared by world class chefs, a fantastic spa and luxurious living quarters. We recommend you spend your evenings in a safari-style tent suite perched on the river’s edge or tucked into a grove of trees. These camps allow you to sleep under the stars without sacrificing any of the amenities and service of a 5-star resort, but family-friendly timber homes are also available.
